Rooms with sea views

The Lanes Hotel has 34 fully en-suite rooms, including sea-facing doubles with two double beds. Some rooms feature four-poster beds draped in Victorian style. All rooms include a flat-screen TV, hairdryer, and a hospitality tray with tea, coffee, and biscuits. Sea-view rooms have large windows overlooking Brighton's seafront, where guests can watch events like the Brighton Marathon or London to Brighton Bike Race. Bathrooms come with fluffy white towels, complimentary toiletries, and bathrobes.

Breakfast and dining

The Ivor Novello Breakfast Room serves meals in a space with antique walnut paneling, stained glass windows, and a Victorian fireplace. Guests can also relax in the Noel Coward Lounge, which overlooks the Volks Electric Railway-Britain's oldest electric railway, running between Brighton Pier and the Marina. The hotel has a pleasant licensed sun terrace at the front.

Events and leisure

The hotel hosts funeral receptions, providing space for mourners to gather. It's also a popular choice for hen parties. Brighton Beach, visible from many rooms, is the finish line for annual events like the Vintage Cars Race and Pride. The British Airways i360, the world's tallest moving observation tower, is 2 km away.

Nearby attractions

The Lanes Hotel is within walking distance of SEA LIFE Brighton (0.5 km), Brighton Palace Pier (1.5 km), and the Royal Pavilion (1 km). The Old Market is 2 km away, while Churchill Square Shopping Centre is 1.5 km from the property. The nearest airport, London Gatwick, is 45 km away.

Guest services

The staff at The Lanes Hotel prioritizes guest comfort and maintains the hotel's reputation. Rooms on upper floors have lift access. Ironing facilities, heating, and tea/coffee makers are provided. Some rooms include a seating area and balcony. The hotel offers discounted rates for families.

“The Lanes Hotel strikes me as a conveniently located spot right on the seafront. I appreciate that they've blended some modern updates into the older structure, and little perks like in-room hot drinks are a nice touch. It seems like a solid choice for families aiming to be close to Brighton's main attractions.”

Lovely Stay!

helpful staff spacious room natural light modern bathroom
The reception staff was helpful with check-in! They assisted with parking arrangements, easing my arrival. My room, a double and twin on the lower floor, felt spacious and had great natural light! The modern bathroom was a total plus.
The room lacked slippers. This was a minor inconvenience .

The building itself possesses historic charm. I heard about Noel Coward suite and Ivan Novello. I found out that he also had a house at the location and its history is exciting.

Mixed Experience, Lift Issues and Limited Breakfast

out-of-service lift limited breakfast
The hotel benefits from a location near to the beach.
The lift was out of service, a significant issue. I also found that a hot breakfast was unavailable. A continental option was the only choice. This continental breakfast was very limited. I expected a better offering.

I was visiting for a short break. The staff rearranged my room to be on the ground floor because I have problems with stairs. They also arranged a separate table for breakfast, just for me.
The room felt a bit old. I did notice some dust on the remote control.
